Let's simplify the three main cloud computing models (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) with a real-life analogy: owning a car.
🔹 IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
You buy a car.
You're responsible for everything: fuel, maintenance, insurance and driving.
You have total control, but you also manage all the complexity.
Cloud example: leasing servers, networking and storage (e.g. AWS EC2).
🔹 PaaS (Platform as a Service)
You rent a car.
The supplier takes care of maintenance and servicing. You simply concentrate on driving.
Less responsibility, more focus on your main task.
Example in the cloud: using platforms to create/deploy applications (e.g. Google App Engine).
🔹 SaaS (Software as a Service)
You take a cab.
You don't have to worry about the car, the fuel or the route. Just hop in and enjoy the ride.
Fully managed and effortless.
Example in the cloud: Access to software such as Gmail or Zoom.
Cloud services simplify IT needs by transferring responsibility to the provider, allowing you to choose the level of control you wish to retain.
